Jes Moran (b. 1983, Santa Clara, California) is an artist based in Colorado. Her paintings explore the concept of space—not only the physical environments we inhabit but also the internal landscapes we carry within. Fascinated by the intersection of nature and human-made surroundings, Moran delves into how these external and internal spaces collide, coexist, and contrast. Her work often reflects the tension between the natural world and our constructed environments, as well as how those tensions shape our inner worlds.
Moran uses vibrant pigments applied to raw canvases, which are then cut and sewn back together to to create textured, dynamic compositions. The act of stitching and reworking the canvas mirrors the delicate balance between the tangible and the abstract.
