About Jes
Jes Moran is a Colorado-based material artist and the founder of JES, a studio practice and collection of handmade objects rooted in color, pattern, material, and joy.
Working across cloth and clay, Moran creates textile stain paintings, handmade ceramics, and functional objects designed to be lived with. Her textile paintings begin with acrylic paint applied directly to raw canvas, which is then cut, sewn, and reconstructed. Her ceramic work explores similar ideas through form, function, texture, and the physical traces of the handmade process.
JES brings these different parts of her practice together through small-batch collections and one-of-a-kind works. Created from her home studio in Colorado, each collection is made in limited quantities and released seasonally, offering new explorations of color, pattern, material, and function throughout the year.
Everything is made by hand, embracing the individuality, imperfections, and evidence of the human touch that make each piece its own.

My Story
JES grew out of a lifelong love of making things by hand.
Jes Moran is a Colorado-based material artist whose practice has always been rooted in curiosity, color, and the physical process of making. After years of developing a painting practice, she began cutting, sewing, and reconstructing her painted canvases, allowing the work to become something more tactile, dimensional, and connected to the materials themselves.
That same curiosity eventually led to clay.
Working across cloth and clay opened up new possibilities, painting could become construction, ceramics could become functional objects, and artwork could move beyond the wall and into everyday life. The common thread has always been the material: how it feels, how it changes, what happens when it is cut, stitched, shaped, rearranged, or simply allowed to be imperfect.
JES is an extension of that studio practice.
Created from a small home studio in Colorado, JES brings together textile paintings, ceramics, textiles, and handmade objects in small batches and seasonal collections. Each collection is an opportunity to explore something new while making pieces that can be used, lived with, collected, and enjoyed.
After years of making work primarily for galleries and exhibitions, Jes is excited to share more of the studio directly with the people who connect with it. The goal isn't to make more for the sake of making more, but to make thoughtfully, experiment often, and create objects that bring a little more color, pattern, connection, and joy into everyday life.
